The 2019 line-up for Dominica’s renowned World Creole Music Festival has been released! The festival is set to run from Friday October 25th to Sunday October 27th in the capital, Roseau.

Reggae legend, Buju Banton will join Nigerian trailblazer, Davido, and “Bouyon Boss,” Asa Bantan as the headliners of the festival.

Regional soca favourites including Patrice Roberts, Mr.Killa, Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons are scheduled to perform over the 3-day event. While on the reggae side of the card, Etana and Romain Virgo from Jamaica are set to hit the main stage.

True to its roots, the festival will showcase the best of local and regional Creole musical fusions such as Cadence-lypso, Kompa, Zouk, Soukous, Bouyon and Zydeco. Some of the artistes representing the creole genre are Mel, Princess Lover, Eric Virgal, Triple Kay Band and WCK Band.

This will be the 21st year of the festival which was founded in 1997 to conclude International Creole month (October) on the island. The festival serves as an effective promotion tool for Dominican tourism and a global platform for indigenous Dominican and regional creole music.

Tens of thousands of visitors flock to the nature island every year for the festival and this year will be no different. For a snapshot of what it was like last year, you can watch this recap video from 2018.
