The Caribbean talent in Black Panther ranges from actors to stuntman to animator. Interesting fact: One actress is the daughter of legendary Jamaican reggae singer Jimmy Cliff.

Letitia Wright

Birthplace: Guyana


Letitia Wright has already made a mark on the British acting scene, having been nominated for a 2016 British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer.


Wright plays Shuri, T’Challa’s younger half-sister and a princess in her own right. Shuri has all of the skills and abilities of a Black Panther, and is described as “the smartest person in the world.” (Source: IMDB)



Winston Duke

Birthplace: Tobago


Winston Duke is relatively new to the scene, landing his first TV role in 2014 in an episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” then joining “Person of Interest” in a recurring role as gang leader Dominic Besson. He also appeared in “Major Crimes” and “Modern Family.” “Black Panther” is Duke’s first feature film.


Duke plays M’Baku, one of Wakanda’s greatest warriors, who in the “Black Panther” comics tries to overthrow T’Challa and take Wakanda as his own. (Source: IMDB)



Jason Elwood Hanna

Birthplace: Bahamas


Jason was a stunt performer in Black Panther. Other credits include Avengers: Infinity War and an upcoming episode of Luke Cage. Additionally, Jason portrayed Thug #1 in the DC Entertainment production Black Lightning. He was also a stunt performer in the series.


He has been training in martial arts and acrobatics since age 11, and has studied in several different martial arts, holding a black belt in Jujutsu and other belts in Ninjutsu and Capoeira. (Source: IDBM)



Sydelle Noel

Birthplace: United States of America (Grenadian roots)


A former athlete turned model, Noel has been seen on series such as Bones and Private Practice. Black Panther was her major movie debut. (The Telegraph)



Shaunette Renee Wilson

Birthplace: Guyana


Shaunette is best known for her roles on Showtime’s Billions opposite Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti (2016), and currently starring opposite Manish Dayal, Matt Czuchry and Bruce Greenwood in The ResidentFox’s  (2018) medical drama pilot produced by Antoine Fuqua.


Born in Guyana but raised in New York from the age of two, Shaunette attended the Yale School of Drama. Her Yale School of Drama credits include Cardboard Piano, Paradise Lost, The Seagull, and The Children. Other credits: The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Yale Repertory Theatre-Connecticut Critics Circle Awards Nomination), Midsummer, love holds a lamp in this little room, Orlando, Middletown, We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as Southwest Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884-1915 (Yale Summer Cabaret).  Shaunette received her BA in Drama and Theatre from Queens College. Nabiyah Be

Birthplace: Brazil (Daughter of legendary Jamaican reggae artist, Jimmy Cliff.)


As a child, she was introduced to the musical stage by her father Jimmy Cliff, with whom she toured internationally as a guest singer and back up dancer. She has been the backing vocalist for two iconic Brazilian artists, Daniela Mercury and Carlinhos Brown and conceived, produced and performed Rebel in Me, a recorded live concert of re-arranged classic and contemporary songs. While still in Brazil she joined theater company Os Bumburistas and with them developed three theater projects.


After completing her theater studies at Pace University in New York, she originated the role of Eurydice in Anaïs Mitchell’s highly acclaimed Hadestown and performs in the Hadestown Original Cast Album scheduled for release on October 6th, 2017. Sekani Solomon

Birthplace: Tobago


The motion designer revealed earlier this week that he worked on the main end titles for the Marvel flick. The end titles include a short animation sequence at the end of the film that visually accompanies the main end credits. 


He has developed quite the portfolio as a motion designer over the years, having worked on a number of projects for television and commercials for high-profile clients including HBO, Starz, MTV, Disney, and NFL. He also most recently worked on Netflix original “God Less” as well as Emmy Award-winning series, “Manhattan”. (Source: Loop TT)
